MBA to train 21st-century problem-solvers
Streamlined core courses, leadership development opportunities, and “hands-on” problem solving for today’s business challenges — these are some of the initiatives included in UALR’s newly designed master of business administration program starting fall 2013.
Dr. Jane P. Wayland, Stephen Harrow Smith dean of the UALR College of Business, described the revised degree program as “a unique and contemporary approach, built on research and input from top business leaders in central Arkansas.”
Wayland said a special element for all students is an initial leadership skills development “boot camp,” featuring personalized feedback and a plan of action to be used throughout the program.
“The innovative curriculum balances analytical skills and theoretical knowledge expected of MBAs with the equally important human skills needed to recognize opportunities, tackle challenges, and lead others in the work environment,” said Wayland.
Experienced, accessible faculty provide extensive business, research, and educational perspectives. The self-paced program is designed to meet the needs of full-time students and working professionals. Core courses are offered every semester.
MBA students also have access to the COB’s Student and Career Services, an integral component of the business program. It offers multiple, ongoing opportunities for career development and professional networking.
The UALR College of Business, located in the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Business and Economic Development, is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and offers undergraduate and graduate programs. The college also houses the Institute for Economic Advancement, the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center, the Kenneth and Pat Wilson Center for Economic Education, and the Center for Professional Selling.
