The Student Services Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock has earned recognition from the American Institute of Architects.

The AIA Honor Award was given to the UALR student center as part of AIA Arkansas’ Design Awards program to honor excellence in architecture and urban design in Arkansas.

The program informs the public of the value of architectural practice by recognizing achievement in a broad range of work. The honor award was one of three bestowed in 2013.

The building also received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold rating, a designation of environmentally responsible and resource-efficient architecture from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Designed by Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects and constructed under the direction of CDI Contractors, the new student center was designed to consolidate campus administration and enrollment services and to serve as the new gateway to the UALR campus.

The architectural honor was highlighted in a recent issue of Arkansas Business.
