UALR Deadline for Noyce Scholarships for Science, Math Majors is March 23
Friday, March 23, is the deadline for science and math juniors to apply for the Robert Noyce Scholarship that provides substantial stipends for students willing to commit to teach those subjects in high-need school districts.
The program offers scholarships of $7,500 per year for juniors and $8,500 in the senior year. The scholarships are nearly double the average cost of books and tuition at UALR.
School districts classified as being in need of mathematics and science teachers include Little Rock, North Little Rock, Pulaski County, and Benton.
Graduate students with degrees in mathematics or science are eligible for scholarships and stipends of $10,000.
In exchange for the financial support, Noyce Scholars commit to teach two years in a high-need school district for each year they accept the scholarship.
Individuals interested in the Noyce Scholarship Program should contact Dr. Sally Robison, associate professor of mathematics and statistics at (501) 569-8109 or by e-mail at sarobison@ualr.edu.
