The UALR Gallery program has received a $30,000 grant from the National Endowment of the Humanities for a project to photograph and produce a film about the mural by Joe Jones – “The Struggle of the South” – in an effort to rescue and restore the work.

A work by Ted Grimmett, printing supervisor in the UALR Office of Printing Services, has been accepted into the 54th Annual Delta Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center, which runs Jan. 27 to March 28, 2012.
James Tisdale, the Mississippi-born sculptor currently the ceramic program coordinator at the Austin Museum of Art, exhibits his ceramic figurative sculptures Aug. 15 to Oct. 2 at UALR’s Gallery II in the Fine Arts Building.
“Roux,” an exhibition of traditional and non-traditional printmaking, opens Monday, Aug. 15, through Sunday, Oct. 2, in UALR’s Gallery III in the Fine Arts Building. The exhibition was curated by Danielle Burns for the Houston Museum of African American Culture.

Members of the Little Rock Rugby Club will plant a tree Saturday in memory of their teammate, UALR graduate student Keri Young. The Zambian native died in a automobile accident on Saturday, Jan. 29.
UALR senior art student and Donaghey Scholar Salathiel Cyrene Quiamco of Little Rock was accepted into the AsiaLearn program at Polytechnic University in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

UALR’s Gallery I will host a traveling exhibit, “Advancing Tradition: 20 Years of Printmaking at Flatbed Press,” from July 10 to Oct. 2 in the Fine Arts Building.
Winston Taylor, a clay potter from Russellville who studied art at UALR, has been named the 2011 Arkansas Living Treasure by the Arkansas Arts Council.
Photographs by UALR art history major Alex Leme were included in a new exhibition that opened in New York last week.
