The 21st Annual Arkansas College Art History Symposium will be held at UALR Thursday and Friday, March 3-4, in the Fine Arts Building, featuring a 7:30 p.m. Thursday lecture by Dr. James Farmer. The topic: “One Twisted Monkey: Ecuadorian Ceramics, the Classic Moment, and the Search for the “Human” in Ancient American Art.” The event is free and open to the public.

Three UALR students have been selected for internships this summer by The Washington Center, the largest independent, nonprofit academic internship program in the country. Founded 35 years ago, The Washington Center’s mission is to build future leaders by instilling in all program participants the need to be well-informed, public-spirited, and socially engaged leaders.

UALR Department of Art student organizations will hold their annual Holiday Art Sale today through Friday, Dec. 3.
UALR’s Sequoyah National Research Center will exhibit a collection of Native American nativity scenes during the holiday season in the Dr. J.W. Wiggins Native American Art Gallery at the center in Suite 500 at UALR’s University Plaza.

Nosotras: Portraits of Latina, an exhibit of 50 photographs — black and white as well as color — from eight emerging photographers documenting the lives and culture of Latinas in the United States, runs Oct. 21 through Nov. 30 in Gallery I of UALR’s Fine Arts Building.
UALR’s Gallery III will host the Arkansas Arts Council’s 2010 Small Works on Paper touring art exhibition Tuesday, Oct. 5, to Sunday, Oct. 31, at the Fine Arts Building. A public reception will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at the Gallery.
