Angela Maynard Sewall, dean of UALR’s College of Education, has been elected to a three-year term as a member of the board of directors of the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education.
The National Association for Gifted Children recognized two UALR graduate students at the group’s Research Gala event in Atlanta Nov. 11 to 14 that attracted 2,500 attendees.
UALR’s Bailey Speaker Series, in conjunction with the UALR Academy for Teaching and Learning Excellence, will present a teaching symposium Friday, Oct. 29, featuring a keynote address by Dr. Maryellen Weimer, winner of Pennsylvania State University’s Milton S. Eisenhower Award for Distinguished Teaching.

UALR has received a $2.7 million grant through the U.S. Department of Education to expand its Reading Recovery program, a teacher training and literacy intervention education program based in the university’s College of Education. The university’s grant is part of a $45.5 million effort by the Department of Education to “fund what works” in education over the next five years.
