Panel to Discuss Aftermath of Bin Laden’s Death

Members of the UALR chapter of the international studies honor society Sigma Iota Rho and the university’s International Studies Program will present a panel discussion at noon Friday, May 6, on the death of terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden and how it will affect American foreign policy. The event will be in the Leadership Lounge in the Donaghey Student Center.

Egypt Panel Rescheduled for Noon Friday

UALR professors with strong ties to Egypt and the Middle East will comment on what the future may hold for the country and its effect on the U.S. in a panel discussion at noon Friday, Feb. 25.

The event, postponed on Feb. 4 because of winter weather, is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Middle Eastern Studies Program.

Panel Discusses Egypt’s Future

Note: Due to inclement weather, the panel discussion on the future of Egypt will be postponed until further notice.

UALR professors with strong ties to the Middle East will discuss what the future may hold for Egypt and how the turmoil might affect the United States.

The panel discussion will be held in the Student Government Association Lounge on the second floor of the Donaghey Student Center at noon Friday, Feb. 4.

The Morning After: UALR Politicos Look Ahead

The votes have been counted — or most of them — and the results are in: the Republicans have gained control of the House and the
Democrats have lost a few seats, but still have control of the Senate, and President Obama is still in the White House.

What’s next? Two UALR political science professors — one that leans Republican, the other Democrat — were asked what they expected to see with the 111th Congress and a White House sharing responsibility for government policy.
