Dr. René Shroat-Lewis is an associate professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Geology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and her doctoral degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. In addition to teaching, René has an extensive list of paleoecology presentations at geology conferences, and has contributed several papers to the journal PALAIOS and the Journal for College Science Teaching. René is the recipient of many distinguished awards including the UA Little Rock EIT Faculty Excellence Award for Teaching, the UA Little Rock EIT Faculty Excellence Award for Service, and two Student Advocate Awards. Internationally she has won the Association for Women Geoscientists Winifred Goldring Award, The Association for Women Geoscientists Chrysalis Scholarship, and the Association for Applied Paleontological Sciences James R. Welch Scholarship. When she’s not at the university, she spends time gardening, crafting, and spoiling her dog.
