Mission
The mission of UA Little Rock Military Student Success Center (MSSC) is to provide our student Veterans, Active-Duty, National Guard, Reserve, and family members with compassion, commitment, excellence, professionalism, integrity, accountability, and stewardship from enrollment to graduation and beyond.
Summary Narrative
Improve student recruitment and yield processes
Word of mouth and outreach is the primary recruitment tools for the MSS demographic. Working with and mentoring our students has been our primary focus while attending as many veteran and service member events in Central Arkansas as possible. Even though our military is showing some of the lowest recruitment numbers prior to 9/11, our numbers are holding steady or showing small increases.
Create non-traditional student recruitment pipelines
2023 will hopefully bring a partnership between UA Little Rock and the PEC Professional Education Center, Camp Robinson. This partnership will create a national pipeline for all National Guard Recruiters to get 15 hrs of credit towards a Business Certificate program or an MBA. This project is ongoing.

Increase access to student wellness and inclusion services
We are partnering with the Library to bring access and knowledge-based services to our students. We are also working with VA partners to increase access to healthcare and benefit utilization best practices.
Develop a responsive student experience and engagement program
The MSS employee’s VA Work Study students, five of them during the Fall and Spring semesters. One of their many tasks has them reach out to other military students in their departments and offer assistance or just words of encouragement. This program is mirrored in our social media outreach program, where information and positivity are shared to foster student retention and resilience during difficult and challenging periods.
