Spring Percussion Concert | Music Desegration

Guest artist Chris Thompson will perform selections from his album Music Desegregation with the Percussion Ensemble.

The music and lyrics for the album blend classical styles (and classical percussion instruments) with hip-hop. From his liner notes, “These combinations can cultivate interest, inspiration, and exposure to underserved communities and encourage more youth to get involved with various musical styles and instruments. Every piece incorporates uplifting, encouraging, and powerful lyrics as Chris addresses social justice, history, faith, and realizing one’s dreams.”

The Trojan Steel Band will open the program.
