Supporting Biomedical Innovation Through the NIH SBIR/STTR Programs

June 13, 2023 at 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Free

The National Institutes of Health Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs provide over $1.2B in early-stage funding for translating innovative products from the bench to the bedside. NIH small business program directors, Dr. Stephanie Davis (National Heart Lung and Blood Institute), Dr. Orlando Lopez (National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research), and Dr. Sarra Djemil (National Cancer Institute), will discuss funding opportunities for Arkansas biomedical innovators, as well as entrepreneurial resources available to the agency’s small business grantees.

You may book one-on-one meetings with Dr. Davis, Dr. Lopez, Dr. Djemil, and/or Dr. Ming Zhao (program director, National Cancer Institute) to discuss your ideas.

Additionally, attendees will have the chance to ask two local cofounders of the Arkansas startup NuShores Biosciences (Dr. Alex Biris, CTO, and Sharon Ballard, CEO) about their experiences with the NIH SBIR program.

This event will be held at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, Sam Walton Auditorium Rm 10028. Lunch will be provided.

Offered in partnership with UAMS BioVentures
