Volunteer Opportunities

Bailey Alumni & Friends Center Ambassador

Become a volunteer at the Bailey Alumni & Friend Center by volunteering on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. It’s a great way to showcase the UA Little Rock Alumni Association and UA Little Rock while having fun and visiting with alumni.

Appreciation Caller

To contact donors who have made a gift to one or more UA Little Rock Alumni Scholarship Funds this year to say thank you for their continued support.

Time commitment: Appreciation callers are asked to give a one-week “thank you” session; one session per month. Each session generally entails four one-hour calling periods within a weeks time.

Responsibilities:

  • To contact 12 to 15 Alumni Scholarship Fund donors during the weekly appreciation session to thank them personally for their gift.
  • Be knowledgeable about the needs of the institution and the role of the Alumni Association.
  • Maintain support of the Alumni Association and the Fund for UA Little Rock.

Summary of the process:

  • Appreciation callers may be asked to thank donors from a variety of class years and divisions.
  • Appreciation callers are encouraged to discuss volunteering with the Alumni Association with the alumni donors whom they are thanking, if this seems appropriate.

Event Host

To work with Alumni staff to organize a particular event, providing “on site” support. Event Hosts attend Alumni-sponsored events and interact with other alumni, guests and students.

Time Commitment:

  • Event hosts are asked to make a commitment through the duration of a selected event.

Responsibilities:

  • Event hosts will help create and sign invitations, assist in local logistics (sites, caterers, entertainment, etc.), and serve as program ambassadors as needed.
  • Event hosts attend events and interact with alumni and guests.
  • Maintain support of the Alumni Association and the Fund for UA Little Rock.

Summary of Process:

  • The Alumni Association staff will provide an event calendar along with additional materials to help determine which upcoming activities may match your interests.

Leadership Steward

To work closely with the Alumni Association staff and participate in phone calls and meetings with alumni, both donors and prospects, to increase their connection with the alumni community and the Institute.

Time Commitment:

  • Leadership stewards are asked to make a one-year commitment. There are no specified sprints or sessions, these contacts will be determined based on need and the availability of the leadership steward.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Alumni Association staff with maintaining contact with three to five Alumni Association donors at different times during the year.
  • Help share information of current activities and news at UA Little Rock that would be of interest to the alumni.
  • Be knowledgeable about the needs of the Institute and the role of the Alumni Association.
  • Stewards are encouraged to discuss volunteer opportunities on behalf of the Alumni Association with the alumni they are contacting, if this seems appropriate.
  • Make an annual gift to UA Little Rock, at a level of $1,000 or more.

Summary of the process:

  • The Alumni staff will work with the Steward to select the alumni with whom the volunteer would most like to contact.

Letter Signer

To personalize a mailing for solicitation and/or appreciation (“thank you”) purposes to alumni by allowing your signature to be added to the piece.

Time Commitment:

  • Letter singers are asked to give a few hours each month to come to the Bailey Center to help compose letters and give their signature before mail out.

Responsibilities:

  • Be knowledgeable about the needs of the Institute and the role of the Alumni Association.
  • Maintain Membership in the Alumni Association.

Summary of process:

  • The Alumni Association will work with the Letter Signer to select mailings that fit the volunteer’s time schedule and the type of mailing desired.
