ATLE Lunch & Learn: Microaggressions
November 21, 2019 at 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
This lunch and learn event will be an opportunity to learn about microaggressions, or as psychologist Derald Wing Sue puts it, “The everyday slights, indignities, put-downs and insults that people of color, women, LGBT populations or those who are marginalized experience in their day-to-day interactions with people.” Participants will engage in an honest and productive conversation on how to deal with microaggressions in the classroom, whether the receivers are the students or the faculty. Panelists include:
- Laura Barrio-Vilar, Associate Professor of English
- Lakeshia Jones, Associate Professor of Mathematics
- Rachel Tennial, Assistant Professor of Psychology
All faculty are encouraged and invited to attend. Lunch will be served to all participants at 12:15 p.m., and this event will earn you 10 points toward your next ATLE award.
Please, RSVP by filling in this online form.
