Deborah J. Baldwin, Ph.D., has been appointed as interim Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs for the spring 2017 semester. This will allow the University time to search for a permanent Provost with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2017.
Baldwin has served the University in many capacities. She was Chair of the history department for six years and Dean of the college of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences for almost twenty years. Currently, she is Associate Provost of Collections and Archives and Director of the Center for Arkansas History and Culture (CAHC). Throughout her years of administrative service, she has continued to teach in the public history program and has overseen graduate student work with community organizations. She obtained her Ph.D. in history from the University of Chicago.
Baldwin will not be a candidate in the search for a permanent Provost.
