Landscapes, is a simple title for the broad interpretation of a long artistic tradition. Nathan Larson, Assistant Curator has organized this exhibition from the Permanent Art Collection at UA Little Rock. A variety of media, including photographs, drawings, prints, watercolors and sculpture are represented in this exhibition. For visitors, this is an opportunity to examine both the subject matter and how that subject matter was created. How space is organized and represented. Certain artworks can have an abstracted look through the artist’s use of light and shadow. None of the photographs were manipulated using digital software. The arrangement of artworks brings together traditional landscape compositions with abstract designs, including photographs of interior spaces inspired by the traditional compositional structure. Landscapes compositions are typically constructed with a foreground, middle ground, and background.
