Anderson Institute Lecture Series: How Can Black Parents Rear Their Children to be Black Americans in a Color Conscious Society?

March 29, 2018 at 8:30 am - 9:30 am

Free

Most parents would concur that parenting is a challenge even in the best of circumstances. However, for many parents of color, especially black parents, the challenge is more complex because of historical, social, economic, and political factors embedded into the legal fabric of American society regarding African Americans. This presentation will provide some strategies for black parents in further parenting their children to be Black American while maintaining a unyielding sense of Black identity.
