Percussion Ensemble Presents ‘Dark Side’ Concert Feb. 13
UALR’s Percussion Ensemble will perform the entire Pink Floyd album “Dark Side of the Moon” in concert Friday, Feb. 13, to benefit the ensemble’s touring program.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. UALR students are admitted free with ID.
The English rock band that initially earned recognition in the late 1960s for their psychedelic rock music achieved worldwide success with “Dark Side of the Moon” in 1973. The program will also include selections from five of Radiohead’s seven studio albums. Selections include “There There” (from the “Hail to the Thief” album), “15 Step” (“In Rainbows”), “I Might Be Wrong” (“Amnesiac”), “Street Spirit (Fade Out)” (“The Bends”) and “Morning Bell,” “Idioteque,” “Optimistic,” and “Kid A” (“Kid A”).
“This very special performance of this music has been over a year in production and orchestration of music,” said Charles Law, director of the ensemble who arranged the pieces. “The students have all had a voice in the production, and the group effort has been amazing.”
Celebrating more than 10 years of performing, the Percussion Ensemble is a high-energy group that has performed throughout the Midwest and South presenting concerts and clinics for students of all ages. Past performances include concerts at the University of Missouri, University of Georgia, University of New Orleans, Mobile’s Concerts in the Park, the Chicago Public Schools, Silver Dollar City, and Little Rock’s World Fest.
