Ottenheimer Library Announces Student Worker Award

UALR’s newly formed Ottenheimer Library Development Board announced that it is establishing an award to fund student workers who show interest in the field of library and information science.  The award will allow the Ottenheimer Library to offer library work experience for UALR students.

Prospective candidates must have at least a 3.0 grade point average and an interest in working in a library environment. The award for the fall 2009 academic year is not a scholarship. Its purpose is to reward a student working in the library with a substantially higher salary than the average for student workers. The winner must work a minimum of 10 to 15 hours per week at the Ottenheimer Library.

To apply, send a letter of application with a brief explanation of experiences or interests in the field of library and information science, a copy of academic transcripts, and three letters of recommendation to Maureen James, chair of the Ottenheimer Library Development Board Student Worker Award Committee, 2801 South University Ave., Little Rock, AR, 72204. The deadline for submission of all materials is May 15, 2009.

A selection committee will evaluate applications and select the winner or winners. For more information, visit Ottenheimer Library at the UALR website.

The Ottenheimer Library Development Board members include Steve Lopata, president; Alda Ellis, vice president; Richard Clark, secretary/treasurer; Jenny Adair; Jeanne Brown; Shannon Chamberlin; and Sandra Newell.
