Alumni Hosts Lecture, Reception with ‘Cave Painters’ Author
Gregory Curtis, author of “The Cave Painters: Probing the Mysteries of the World’s First Artists,” will present a lecture at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building on the UALR campus. The event is sponsored by the UALR Alumni Association and the Donaghey Scholar Alumni Society. Admission is free and open to the public.
A reception and book signing exclusively for members of the UALR Alumni Association will be held at 6:30 p.m. prior to the public lecture for members who register to attend.
A graduate of Rice University with a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s in English from San Francisco State College, Curtis was a staff writer for Texas Monthly in the 1970s and editor from 1981 to 2000, winning five National Magazine Awards. In 2000, he was selected as one of the 10 best magazine editors in the country by the Columbia Journalism Review.
“All art, history, and art history alumni, students, and faculty are encouraged to attend,” said Christian O’Neal, UALR Alumni Association director. Individuals who are not currently members of the Alumni Association are asked to register at this link.
