D.C. Alumni Host Arkansas Senators

The Washington, D.C., Alumni Chapter hosted its annual summer gathering in conjunction with the UALR Congressional Reception June 21.

UALR alumni and supporters attended this year’s event. Guests were welcomed by Chancellor Joel E. Anderson, who introduced special guests Sen. Blanche Lincoln and Sen. Mark Pryor.

Guests learned about strategic initiatives of the university such as the Central Arkansas Technology Park, information quality program, the Department of Education’s Promise Neighborhoods Program, and the Shepherd Consortium focused on poverty studies, as well as visited with Dr. Alex Biris, director of the UALR Nanotechnology Center.

Alumni at the gathering included 2009 Distinguished Alumnus Dr. Galen Barbour ’63 and Carolyn Barbour ’62, Khary Dickerson ’99 ’04, Bryan Goodman ’98, Autumn Henry ’05, Sarah Mondet ’10, Jeremy Saenz ‘01, and Ammar Zakiullah ’07.
