Linda LeGarde Grover, an Ojibwe Indian and professor of American Indian Studies at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, will present a lecture, “When the Kettle Jumped into the Fire: Windigo Presence in Ojibwe Prose and Poetry,” at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 11, in Ledbetter Hall, Room D in UALR’s Donaghey Student Center. The presentation is hosted by UALR’s William G. Cooper Jr. Honors Program in English.

Grover, an enrolled member of the Bois Forte Band of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, focuses her research on the effects of federal and state Indian education policy on Ojibwe communities. Her lecture will look at elements of traditional Ojibwe (Chippewa) culture in Ojibwe contemporary writings.

She is the 2009 recipient of the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction for her book manuscript, “The Dance Boots,” recently published by the University of Georgia Press.
