UALR’s Music Department is hosting the Arkansas Saxophone Quartet for a guest artist recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in UALR’s Fine Arts Building. Admission is free and open to the public.

Formed in the fall of 2007, the quartet includes saxophone professors from UALR, Ouachita Baptist University, Arkansas State University-Beebe, and the University of Central Arkansas — Andy Wen on soprano sax, Caroline Taylor on alto, Brent Bristow on tenor, and Jackie Lamar on baritone. The quartet performs all styles of chamber music ranging from transcriptions to avant-garde contemporary music.

Selections from Friday’s program include “Fugue in G-minor, BWV 578,” by J.S. Bach, “Recitation Book” by David Maslanka, and “Quatuor” by Pierre Max Dubois.
