Applied Art Open House to Feature Demos
UALR’s Applied Design program will host its fourth annual open studio event from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, in the University Plaza, Suite 300 at University and Asher Avenues.
The event will include a raffle and sale, along with a silent auction and an exhibit of works by students and faculty. Works include furniture, metal works, fiber works, and book arts.
“The event will feature an exhibition with artworks from classes such as furniture design, metalsmithing and jewelry, bookmaking, contemporary craft and 3D design by students and faculty,” said Mia Hall, assistant professor of art. “We will also feature sale tables with smaller gift items such as jewelry, cutting boards, and silk scarves.”
Faculty and students also will present demonstrations, including pewter casting at 5 p.m. and silk shibori dyeing at 5:30 p.m.
