Dr. Barton Westerlund, former director of the Industrial Research and Extension Center at UALR from 1962 to 1984, died Saturday, Jan. 22. He was 89. A former chair of the Department of Marketing and Advertising, Westerlund was a professor of economics and marketing until his retirement in 1990.

His is survived by his wife, Dorothy Perkins Westerlund, and their three children.

Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church at Markham Avenue and Mississippi Street. Burial will be private at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
