Sculptural Felting Workshop Set Saturday, Sunday
UALR’s Applied Design program is holding a sculptural felting workshop at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, March 5 and 6, in the UALR Applied Design Facility at University Plaza Suite 300.
The workshop will be led by Arnþrúður Ösp Karlsdóttir, a fiber artist from Reykjavik, Iceland. She works in knitting, felting, crocheting, and alternative methods and uses for fibers. Karlsdóttir is a practicing fibers artist and currently teaches at the Reykjavik School of Visual Art.
The registration fee is $50, tuition is $100, and the supply fee is $30. Tuition and fees are due by March 4. Space is limited and the workshop will fill on a first come-first served basis. The registration form is available on UALR’s Department of Art website. The sculptural felting workshop is open to all skill levels.
Participants will learn how to use simple tools and techniques to manipulate wool and other fibers into traditional objects and free-standing sculpture. The workshop will focus on sculpting with a felting needle, free embroidery, knitting with alternative materials and will include a variety of techniques.
UALR’s artWORKS Artist Workshop Series provides a learning community dedicated to creativity and growth through the making and understanding of the visual arts.
