Ottenheimer Library: ‘There’s an App for That’

UALR’S Ottenheimer Library launched a new mobile website this semester to provide the campus community with improved access to the library’s electronic resources through smart phones and other mobile devices.

mobileThe new customized mobile website works with a wide variety of Internet-ready handheld devices including flip phones, BlackBerrys, Android, and iPhones.

“The library website has javascript code embedded in the library homepage that enables a smart phone to automatically recognize that an alternate mobile site is available and then redirect the user to the mobile site,” said  Nitish Amraji, Ottenheimer’s web designer.

“Once at the mobile site, users can search the library catalog and electronic databases, stay updated with news and events, view the library hours, call, chat or text reference librarians, and much more.”

At any time, the user can exit the mobile site and use the complete library website. A Quick Response (QR) code has been created to help users with QR reader apps to locate the mobile site easily.
