COE Experts Join State STEM Planning
Two UALR experts on STEM Education have been appointed to serve on the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) State Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Team.
Dr. Alicia Cotabish, director of the Center for Gifted Education’s STEM Starters program, and Debbie Dailey, peer coach for STEM Starters, were both nominated and selected to serve on the team.
The ADE State STEM team is comprised of members serving on a committee and subcommittees with expertise in STEM development and STEM education for children from birth to grade 12.
Over the next few months, the team will assist the state in developing a comprehensive 2011-2016 Arkansas STEM Professional Development Plan for ensuring adequate training is provided for the teachers in the state.
