Pep Band Performs Friday

The UALR Trojan Pep Band and the UALR Percussion Ensemble, both under the direction of Charles Law, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, in the Stella Boyle Smith Recital Hall in UALR’s Fine Arts Building. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Trojan Pep Band is the official group of the UALR Mens Basketball program and supports the university mission as a whole. The group has made apperances at both NCAA Basketball tournaments as well as been the host band for the SunBelt Basketball tournament. The group has appeared at the Arkansas State Fair, the Rivermarket, and has performed concerts for many different functions within the state and local community.

Joining the stage on Friday will be the UALR Percussion Ensemble that has grown into a nationally recognized performing ensemble that tours out of state every year promoting education and performance. The group will be making appearances in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Missouri this year.

The Percussion Ensemble program will include Tom Morgan’s “Autumn Scenes,” “A Swingin’ Bossa,” by David J. Long; “Blue Rondo A La Turk,” by Dave Brubeck; and “Ostiato A Koto,” by Troy Breaux.

The Trojan Pep Band will be performing “Josie,” by Steely Dan; “Sweet Home Chicago,” by Robert Johnson;” “Amazing Grace,” arranged by Dave Rivello; and “In The Stone,” by David Foster, Allee Willis, and Maurice White. Both groups will feature a student soloist.
