UALR Theatre Creates Repertory Experience

The UALR Department of Theatre Arts and Dance will present “Criminal Hearts,” by Pulitzer Prize nominee Jane Martin, and “Visiting Mr. Green,” by Jeff Baron, in alternating performances from Wednesday, Feb. 22, through Sunday, Feb. 26, in the University Theatre in the Center for the Performing Arts.

The two plays will showcase entirely different settings designed and engineered for a repertory experience.

“Criminal Hearts” will be directed by graduating theatre arts major Erin Anson of Little Rock as a capstone project.

“‘Criminal Hearts’ is a dark, quirky, fast-paced comedy about two funny women from different worlds who fashion a unique friendship. This provocative play has been described as a combination of ‘Thelma and Louise’ and ‘The Grifters,’” said Dr. Jay Raphael, professor and chair of the theatre arts and dance department.

“Visiting Mr. Green” will star graduating theatre arts major Penn Ross Jackson of New Orleans.

“‘Visiting Mr. Green’ has been produced more than 200 times and translated into 22 languages. The comedy is a touching and compelling story of friendship, family, and forgiveness,” Raphael said.
