Two EIT Students Win at Regional Competition
Two UALR construction management majors recently received awards at a regional student competition, while a professor in the program was given a $3,500 research grant.
The competition is sponsored by the Associated School of Construction and TEXO, the largest commercial contractors association in Texas.
Tyler Cone, a junior from Greenbrier, received a $1,500 scholarship. He works as an intern at AFCO Steel. Cone was one of only 10 students to receive a scholarship.
Little Rock native Justin Elbert took home second place honors for his presentation in the Heavy/Civil category. He works with his father in residential construction.
Dr. Amin Akhnoukh, assistant professor of construction management, received a $3,500 grant to conduct concrete research.
The Construction Management program in the George W. Donaghey College of Engineering and Information Technology offers bachelor of science degrees in Construction Management, Architectural and Construction Engineering, and Civil and Construction Engineering, as well as a Master of Science in Construction Management.
