Discover UALR to Award Nine Scholarships
Nine partial scholarships totaling $3,750 will be given away at this spring’s Discover UALR day on Saturday, April 6, for high school students. Seniors can also apply for admission on the spot with no application fee.
New to this open house will be a scholarship giveaway. The Discover UALR photo challenge will include scholarship prizes: $1,000 for the overall winner and five $250 awards for the runners-up. Additionally, three $500 scholarships will be given away at a morning drawing.

The day-long event will include informational sessions on academics, financial aid, admissions, and housing. In addition, members from campus organizations will be on hand to help out, giving tours and sharing what makes UALR such a dynamic learning and living environment. Parents won’t be left out, either, with a session tailored just for them.
Students will also get to explore the five new Living Learning Communities, which tie together the classroom setting with the residential.
Transfer students and high school juniors and seniors, along with their parents, can explore all that UALR has to offer, from its more than 100 academic programs to its five options for on-campus housing.
“Discover UALR is a perfect time for students to start their college experience while still being in high school,” said Dr. Dean Kahler, vice chancellor for enrollment management. “They get to see firsthand from faculty and mentors what it’s going to be like to learn at a preeminent institution in a metropolitan setting.”
Kahler said that the event is informational – and fun – for both students and their parents.
“Students coming to this event will see how fun the college search process really should be,” he said. “Parents will also get a chance to meet members of our administration, and more importantly, ask questions of the faculty and staff who interact with their students on on a daily basis.”
