Chamber recital to feature violin and piano duo Sept. 19
UALR’s Department of Music and Professor of Music Linda Holzer will present a chamber music recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19.
The concert will be held in Stella Boyle Smith Recital Hall in the UALR Fine Arts Building.
“Mariposa & Friends: International Treasures!” features the duo Mariposa, comprised of Holzer on piano and Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Assistant Concert Master Sandra McDonald on violin. They will be joined by Rafael León on cello.
Selections will include Spanish composer Manuel de Falla’s Suite Populaire Espagnole, and Beethoven’s famous “Archduke” trio, as well as Piano Trio (1987) by American composer Ellen Taaffe Zwilich. The Zwilich piece is being performed in honor of the composer’s 75th birthday season.
