GolfFEST raises money for UALR employees
In three years, the Facilities Education Scholarship has helped 50 University of Arkansas at Little Rock employees and family members continue their education. GolfFEST made this program possible and has helped six recipients earn the credits needed to graduate.
This year’s GolfFEST will be held Monday, Sept. 21, at Chenal Valley Country Club. Registration begins at 11 a.m. followed by lunch and a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
Mike Beebe, former Arkansas governor, is scheduled to play at the event and speak briefly about the program. Steve Sullivan, KATV sports director, also is scheduled to participate.
To register, fill out the form and team roster at http://ualr.at/GolfFEST. Registration is first come, first serve.
Money raised during the event will help fund scholarships for UALR’s facilities management employees.
The program has awarded 104 scholarships at a total of $76,956 in three years.
In conjunction with other university benefits, the Facilities Education Scholarship offers eligible employees a free college education at UALR or assistance with attending another approved school.
UALR’s facilities management employees are responsible for the university’s buildings, mechanical equipment, utilities, grounds, safety, and custodial services.
