CLC students play games during team building exercises on August 13, 2015 in the athletic field house.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will welcome its returning students with a week of fun-filled events to help kick start the Spring 2018 semester.

The first event of the Welcome Back Week celebration is sure to get students energized and excited about the start of the new year. Students can enjoy free coffee and donuts before heading to class from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, and Wednesday, Jan. 17.. The morning treats will be available in the Donaghey Student Center foyer, Reynolds Business Building, and Dickinson Hall.

Later in the day, students will have the opportunity to join their peers in an upbeat group fitness session of Pound at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday and Zumba at noon on Wednesday in the Donaghey Student Center Mall area. If inclement weather occurs, the sessions will move inside to the Donaghey Student Center foyer.

The Campus Resource Scavenger Hunt, a sure way to help first time students become familiar with the UA Little Rock campus, will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Game cards will be available for participants in the Student Experience Center located in Donaghey Student Center Room 216.

Students not participating in the scavenger hunt can check out the Fitness Center Open Clinic in the Donaghey Student Center Fitness Center at 2 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 18.

Also on Thursday, a registered student organization fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Donaghey Student Center upper concourse. That evening, students can join friends for a movie night in Donaghey Student Center Ledbetter A and B for a screening of “American Assassin.”

The University Program Council will host a meet and greet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, in the Donaghey Student Center upper concourse.

Welcome Back Week will conclude on Saturday, Jan. 20, with back-to-back games from the Little Rock women’s and men’s basketball teams against in-state rival, Arkansas State. The women’s game will begin at 3 p.m. in the Jack Stephens Center, and the first 800 guests to arrive will receive a free fidget spinner. During the men’s game, which begins at 5 p.m., student organizations will face off against one another in a participation contest.
