UA Little Rock’s Janessa Rogerson to speak at ACWHE conference

Janessa Rogerson of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock will give an inspirational address during the Arkansas Council of Women in Higher Education’s (ACWHE) 29th annual conference, April 12-13.

The event will take place at the Comfort Inn and Suites Presidential Hotel at 707 I-30 in Little Rock. This year’s theme is S.O.U.L. Sisters, Sisterhood of University Ladies.

Conference festivities will kick off at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, with a welcome reception, followed by a night out on the town in the River Market. The following day, attendees will gather for breakfast and afterward, kick start the day’s sessions, which will include, Leading From Where You Are, Just Show Up, Reversing the Formula: Me + My Institution = Awesome, and Inspiring Greatness In Others.

Dr. Maria Markham, director of the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, will give the morning keynote address, and Dr. Tressa Shavers, regional vice provost of Strayer University will give the afternoon address. UA Little Rock employees, Karl Lenser and Sabrenna Rodgers-Lee, who is also the ACWHE president, will present during the conference as well. Other conference presenters include Pari Smart with Smart Possibilities, LLC and Felicia Johnson, life coach and author.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to refocus, revive, renew, rejuvenate, and refresh ourselves,” said Rodgers-Lee. “It will be a new year, a new beginning, and a new outlook. We will build better sustaining relationships to carry us through the remainder of the year.”

ACWHE awards up to three $500 scholarships and one $750 scholarship annually.  The deadline to apply for one is March 31.

Conference registration is open until April 10. The Chancellor’s Office will sponsor 15 delegates this year, otherwise, the cost of attendance is $40.
