Little Rock Announces change to Nov. 1 basketball exhibition
Little Rock Athletics has announced a change to the Trojan men’s basketball exhibition scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Jack Stephens Center. Little Rock will now hold a Maroon and White scrimmage on Nov. 1, instead of the previously scheduled exhibition against LeMoyne-Owen.
The change in schedule was prompted due to an NCAA regulation permitting teams to participate in two preseason events against NCAA four-year institutions prior to the first game of the regular season. Little Rock participated in a pair of productive scrimmages last week leading up to the 2018-19 season.
“Since our team has already participated in two preseason closed scrimmages, NCAA guidelines prohibits a third preseason contest,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Chasse Conque said. “While this alteration is not ideal, we look forward to watching our team compete on the court in Thursday’s scrimmage in preparation for the upcoming season.”
Little Rock will still provide an opportunity for fans to get a sneak peek at the 2018-19 team as the Trojans will hold a Maroon and White intrasquad scrimmage Thursday, Nov. 1, at 6:30 p.m. As was previously announced, Thursday’s event offers free admission, and fans coming to the scrimmage are encouraged to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items to be donated to the Trojan Food Pantry.
“Thursday night will feature a fun evening for Trojan fans and our student-athletes with the Maroon and White scrimmage,” Conque said. “Our young men have been training hard this offseason, and we are excited for the start of the Darrell Walker era on November 8.”
Little Rock will open the 2018-19 regular season on Thursday, Nov. 8, when the Trojans host Southeastern Oklahoma State at 6:30 p.m. at the Jack Stephens. Season tickets, single game tickets and flex plans are on sale through the Trojan ticket office by visiting Tickets at LRTrojans.com or by calling 565-8257.
