The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Paramedic-to-RN program has been ranked seventh nationally by the educational resource website RegisteredNursing.org.

“Paramedic to RN programs are popping up all over the country to transition paramedics into the world of registered nursing by building upon the education and experience they already possess,” according to the website. “For those pursuing this educational pathway, choosing the best program possible is a high priority.”

UA Little Rock’s 12-month program incorporates lectures along with clinical and simulation lab training to prepare paramedics for careers as registered nurses.

Students take two classes in the summer, fall, and spring semesters and graduate with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and then take the NCLEX-RN exam to become certified as a registered nurse. Students may opt to enroll in UA Little Rock’s RN-to-BSN completion program if they wish to further their RN education.
