UALR Is Hub for ‘Real Deal in the Rock’

The Jack Stephens Center will be the hub for the national high school basketball tournament, “Real Deal in the Rock,” April 17 to 19. The tournament will feature 450 teams competing at gyms throughout Little Rock and North Little Rock. The event, formerly known asĀ “Real Deal on the Hill,” was started in Northwest Arkansas in 2005.

A pep rally at 4 p.m. Friday in the Jack Stephens Center will include a drum line competition and tip-off ceremony with Gov. Mike Beebe and guest speaker Clark Kellogg, a CBS Final Four analyst. The Real Deal Fanfare featuring a rock climbing wall, super slides, basketball shoot-out games, blow-up jumpers, and concession trailers starts at 4:30 p.m. Friday on the Jack Stephens Center parking lot.

At 5:30 p.m., Fox Sportsnet will televise the Real Deal tip-off game. A concert with B Hamp for students will begin at 9 p.m. on the parking lot.

On Saturday, participating teams will get free tours of the Clinton Presidential Library. An adult after-party for all coaches, out-of-town guests, and basketball fans age 30 and up begins at 9 p.m. Saturday at Lafayette Square, located at Sixth and Louisiana streets in Little Rock. Tickets are $10, and the event will have a cash bar.

All games are open to the public. Tickets will be sold for each day of the tournament and are only good on the day they are purchased. They may be purchased at any gym location and are good at all locations. Those two and older must have a ticket to enter. Prices are $8 Friday, $15 Saturday, and $8 Sunday.
