Bowen Series Focuses on Legal Careers

In a monthlong series of events aimed at helping law school students work towards finding a career after graduation, the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law will present a discussion on what students can do with a juris doctor degree – aside from practicing law – on Monday, Oct. 8.

The “JD Out of the Box” discussion from noon to 1 p.m. in the Friday Courtroom is part of a series of events designed to help students at different times in their law school careers work toward finding a job after leaving Bowen.

Earlier, events were held that focused on government careers and discussions with law clerks from the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.

A two-part series titled “Starting Your Own Practice,” will be offered at noon Monday, Oct. 15, in the Friday Courtroom. The first portion will discuss the “Nuts and Bolts of Establishing an Office.” The second part of the series will be held from 5:30 to 6 p.m. in the same location and will discuss “Building and Serving your Clientele.”

On Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 29 and 30, the series will feature an orientation for first-year students by the Career Services Office. The event will be held from 5:15 to 6 p.m. Oct. 29 in the Friday Courtroom, and from noon to 1 p.m. Oct. 30 in Room 323.
