Stina Resen captured medalist honors for the first time in her UALR career at the recent 13th annual USA Women’s Invitational at Azaela City Golf Club in Mobile, Ala.

Resen’s low round of the tournament helped her build a two-shot lead entering the final round.

She finished the event four shots up on runner-up Michaela Fletcher of Memphis, who entered the day five strokes back of the lead and shot a 2-over 74 in the final round to finish at 9 over par.

UALR placed third with a combined score of 928, bringing the team its sixth straight, top-five finish, dating back to the fall season. Resen’s individual win marks the second consecutive event in which a UALR player earned medalist honors.

UALR will next compete at the Rio Verde Invitational in Rio Verde, Ariz., March 13-15.
