Friday Fellows Seek Service, Leadership-Minded Students
Administrators of the UALR Friday Fellows Program are seeking applications from UALR freshmen and sophomores interested in leadership and service for the two-year program offering on-campus housing and $500 per semester for books and other expenses.
“The Friday Fellows Leadership Program at UALR engages students in their sophomore and junior years – with the possibility of a third year for a select few – through a 12-credit-hour course of study that utilizes service-learning,” said Betsy Hart of the Office of Community Engagement. “Students participate in classroom and community-based learning in a three-hour course held each semester of the first two years.”
Students selected to be a Friday Fellow must maintain a grade point average of 3.25 through the course of the fellowship.
The goal of the Friday Fellows Leadership Program is threefold: to engender a lifelong interest and proficiency in its students in leadership and community service; to substantively contribute to the ongoing efforts to engage UALR in its various communities; and to enrich course content and student understanding of the application of classroom-based learning to address community problems.
