Diamond Cafe debuts improved dining experience

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock community recently got a look at improvements to the Diamond Cafe in the Donaghey Student Center.

During two late September days, students, faculty, and staff were invited to check out the changes, which include updates to all food platforms.

One of the most significant improvements was the transition from styrofoam containers to reusable dinnerware, which will cut down on waste and improve the diner experience.

“It’s a lot better. The trash cans were overflowing,” said Holly Talkington, full-time missionary on the Chi Alpha staff, who was among the people who saw the improvements during the free sneak peek, Sept. 24-25.

New menu items and a new hydration station also were among the additions.

Other improvements include:

  • New dinnerware and flatware service return window so students can return dishes directly to the kitchen
  • Diamond Cafe carving station now available twice a week
  • Fresh flowers set out daily.
