Chancellor statement on implementation of state concealed carry laws

University of Arkansas at Little Rock Chancellor Andrew Rogerson shared the following with the campus community on Friday, April 28, regarding Arkansas’s concealed carry laws and how they apply to the campus:

Dear Campus Community:

Many of you have inquired about the state’s new concealed carry laws, Acts 562 and 859, and how they will be implemented at UA Little Rock.

First, I want to assure you that providing a safe and secure environment for faculty and staff, students, and our guests remains a top priority on our campus. We are working with the University of Arkansas System office, and they have provided initial FAQ guidance on the laws. With this guidance, we have begun the process of developing campus-specific details and information to help us be prepared for the Sept. 1 implementation of the new laws.

I am working directly with the Cabinet, University Police, eStem, Office of Communications, Office of Government Relations, and state officials to develop our implementation plan and revise campus policies as needed. You will receive periodic updates on this process as it develops.

Thank you for your interest in campus safety and for your patience as we work together on implementation of the laws.

Sincerely,

Andrew Rogerson

Chancellor
