Student Mural Contest Open for Submissions
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Student Government Association has teamed up with the Faculty Senate Buildings and Grounds Committee to sponsor a contest permitting students to compete for the chance to construct a mural on campus.
The mural is set to be located on the west side of the Ottenheimer Library lobby entrance. It will be eight feet wide and 16 feet long. All current students are eligible to compete in the contest by submitting a design they would be interested in later constructing themselves.
The campus community will be invited to vote on the favorite design, which will be submitted to Chancellor Christina Drale for final approval.
The deadline for submitting a design is midnight on Feb. 26, and the winner of the contest will be given the opportunity to create the mural from their design.
The mural itself is to be completed by April 30. The winner will receive $150 worth of support materials such as canvas and wood, along with $650 of support prep, construction materials, and clean up. Additionally, the project budget includes an artist stipend of $200.
