Carson Joins Einstein Fellows to Improve Education

Rene’ Carson of UALR’s College of Education, an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow, joins more than 80 current and former Fellows June 28-29 for a 20th Anniversary Summit, sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

The summit will present guest speakers from the White House, federal agencies, national education organizations, and members of Congress to generate recommendations for informing and improving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.

Carson, who was a fellow at National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), now is the licensure officer and co-coodinator for the National Council of Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) at UALR’s College of Education.

For 20 years, the Einstein Fellows program has offered K-12 STEM educators with demonstrated excellence in teaching the opportunity to spend a school year in the national public policy arena.

Fellows have served in Congressional offices as well as several federal agencies such as the Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, as well as NOAA.

With their extensive classroom knowledge, experience, and credentials, Einstein Fellows provide practical insights and “real world” perspectives to policy makers and program managers developing and managing educational programs.
