Chenesia Brown wants to help people.
At first, the December graduate candidate thought she would start as an attorney and go on to be a judge. Instead, she chose to study criminal justice because she always wanted to be involved in the legal system in a way she thought she could make the most difference.
After doing scholarly research while in the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program, Brown decided her best opportunity to make an impact was through additional research, service, and teaching.

C’Asia James was homeless for three months.
Her son had surgeries.
She found out her child had autism.
Through it all, James kept going — holding a full-time job while working toward a biology degree at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Megan Rodgers found a home at the William H. Bowen School of Law.
“Bowen is like a family,” said Rodgers, originally from Alaska. “There’s a sense of community I feel here. We’re always there for each other. That’s really helpful when you’re so far from home.”

University of Arkansas at Little Rock officials are taking a step to further prepare students for the next phase of their lives.
Among the challenges: Some students might find it difficult to afford attire for interviews, while others might be misinformed about appropriate dress for meeting with potential employers or graduate school admission boards.
To help, UALR is establishing the Trojan Career Closet, an initiative that will help students starting in the spring.
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will hold its first Claus for Paws event from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, in the University Bookstore.
