The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has named Brooke Magallanes as the interim director of admissions.

“I’m very excited about my new position, and I can’t wait to continue helping students discover UA Little Rock,” Magallanes said. “I love what I do immensely with recruitment communications and events, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to provide support to the rest of my hard-working admissions team.”

In her new role, Magallanes will oversee all undergraduate student recruitment and admissions efforts, lead a team of skilled recruiters working to help students fill their educational dreams, and plan and participate in recruiting events while maintaining relationships with community partners, high schools, and community colleges.

Magallanes joined UA Little Rock as a student recruiter in 2016 and also served as recruitment communications and events manager. She holds a bachelor’s degree in studio arts from the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith and a master’s degree in college student personnel from Arkansas Tech University.

Magallanes and her team were major contributors to the enrollment success of the fall 2022 class, which saw a 29 percent increase in first-time freshmen and an 8 percent increase in transfer students. Recruitment events such as Discover and Trojan Drive Up brought more than 1,000 students to preview campus. She was also the architect of a successful new communications plan that communicated important information to students on a weekly basis.

“I am excited about the experience, skill-set, and diverse perspectives Interim Director Magallanes brings to UA Little Rock,” said Kindle Holderby, assistant vice chancellor of enrollment management. “She is committed to helping all students succeed at UA Little Rock.”
