ASBTDC Series to Help Students Build Their Own Business

The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBTDC) will host a series of webinars during the fall 2023 semester designed to help students achieve their entrepreneurial ambitions.

ASBTDC introduced the Build Your Own Business (BYOB) program in 2020 for UA Little Rock students who want to become entrepreneurs, start a side business, or have an idea for a startup company. All events will take place from 2-3:30 p.m. via Zoom.

The series begins Sept. 22 with Getting Ready to BYOB. In this webinar, speakers will introduce the entrepreneurial umbrella and discuss both what it means to be an entrepreneur and how ASBTDC can help you build your business.

On Oct. 27, the How to BYOB seminar will cover how best to start a business and how the process is crucial to having a lasting and successful business.

In the final series event, BYOB Startup Story: Little Rock Lightning on Nov. 17, participants will hear the story of Miya and Joshun Blackmon, UA Little Rock alumni and owners of the Little Rock Lightning professional basketball team. This hybrid event will take place via Zoom and in person in the Reynolds Business Center at UA Little Rock.

The events are free to attend and count towards School of Business students’ career development Career Catalyst badge. Students can also sign up for free, confidential meetings with an ASBTDC consultant who will offer one-on-one help as students plan and grow their business ventures.
