This effort is part of a larger international effort which is associated through independent affiliates of the World Health Organization’s Age-Friendly Communities Program. The survey served as the initial tool for conducting a baseline assessment of Little Rock’s age-friendliness and was disseminated broadly through 75 participating city community organizations. The online survey was distributed in late 2019. Initial raw survey responses were reported in March. 2020. Due to delays associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, AFLRC and AARP contracted with faculty in the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Public Affairs, Survey Research Center to finalize and generate survey results. In total, nearly a thousand Little Rock residents, age 55+, participated in the assessment. Four major themes emerged from the survey responses: (1) Individual Independence and Safety/ Security; (2) Favorable Community Perceptions; (3) Community Need for Improvements; & (4) Active Engagement.

Flood Impact Assistance Survey 2021: Mississippi River Basin
Client:  The Nature Conservancy
Start Date: 07/2021| End Date: 09/2021
Mode: Mail, Web
The Nature Conservancy partnered with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Survey Research Center to conduct a survey of agricultural landowners in the lower Mississippi River Basin (the Delta). Ducks Unlimited and the KKAC organization provided additional technical support in survey design, instrumentation, recruitment, and survey distribution. Landowners from the Mississippi Delta region encompassing Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi were surveyed to better understand landowners’ preferences for conservation programs and policies that focus on farmlands subject to frequent flooding. The aim will be to use this information to help design programs that provide incentives for landowners to reforest frequently flooded farmlands (FFFL). The importance of this assessment is that over the past several years, flooding in the Delta area has had a negative effect on many landowners and some landowners have even lost their capacity to farm. This survey served as the beginning of a process to eliminate some of the strain flooding places on our farming resources
