Childcare Survey Reminder

Recently UA Little Rock sent you an email requesting participation in a survey concerning the need for childcare at UA Little Rock. If you have participated, we thank you. If not, please consider doing so. The information and link is below.

In order to document need, we are asking everyone, faculty, staff, and students, to respond to the survey regardless of current childcare status. The only requirement is that you are 18 years of age or older. Your participation in the survey will serve as your consent. Your participation survey is voluntary, and you are free to decide not to participate. If you begin the survey you can stop anytime and return to it for completion. However, should you not complete the survey, any data collected up to that point will be retained. No identifiable information will be collected on this survey. The information collected in the survey will be reported to you UA Little Rock, and to professional conferences, and journals. After the end of the study the data will be stored for three years in a password-protected file.

By participating in the study, you may provide valuable information to the UA Little Rock community that can be useful for documenting the need for on-campus childcare services. There are no known risks of participating in the survey beyond those of everyday life. The survey has been reviewed and approved by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Institutional Review Board (IRB). The IRB has determined that this assessment meets the ethical obligations required by federal law and university policies. If you have questions or concerns regarding the administration of this survey, please contact Dr. Derek Slagle at drslagle@ualr.edu. If you have any questions regarding your rights as a research participant, please contact the research compliance officer at 501-569-8657 or irb@ualr.edu.

HUMAN RESOURCES

COVID-19 Update Regarding Paid Leave For Employees

UA Little Rock is open for business and is conducting many services online. Employees who are able to work from home have been encouraged to continue working; however, some employees who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic may not be able to work for a number of reasons.

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) becomes effective today, April 1, 2020. Under the FFCRA all UA Little Rock employees who meet eligibility requirements may apply for up to 80 hours of paid sick leave. Additionally, UA Little Rock employees who have been employed with the university for 30 days or more may be eligible for expanded Family Medical Leave under the Act.

Attached at the bottom of the Daily Digest is an Employee Rights poster and a Q&A document provided by the U.S. Department of Labor. These documents outline the benefits extended to employees under the FFCRA. The Department of Human Resources is available to assist employees who wish to apply for COVID-19 related sick leave or Family Medical Leave. To access UA Little Rock’s FFCRA leave request form and for additional information related to the FFCRA, please visit: https://ualr.edu/humanresources/covid-19-paid-leave/
